Fair Queen & Junior Fair Queen, Little Royals

Fair Queen Contest

The Carroll County Fair Queen Contest is open to all girls ages 16-21 living in Carroll County, Iowa (or majority of activities are in Carroll County). Must be an active member of at least one service organization (church group, 4-H, FFA, Girl Scouts, etc).

Junior Fair Queen Contest

The Junior Carroll County Fair Queen contest is open to girls ages 12-15 who are active in at least one community service organization (church group, 4-H, FFA, Girl Scouts, etc). In addition to an application there will be an interview day where girls will participate in an interview and a team building activity. This process will imitate the Fair Queen’s interview process. Crowning night will take place July 5. Duties will imitate the Fair Queen’s throughout the fair. 

*Accommodations can be made if unable to attend interviews.

Little Royals Contest

Little Miss & Mister: Ages 4-7. There is a Winner and a Runner-Up. Winners will be drawn at random.

Prince & Princess: Ages 8-10. Winner & Runner-Up.  Winner will again be drawn at random. For this age category, they will get to speak and introduce themselves to the crowd. 

All winners will get to ride in the parade with the Queen court. The top winners from each category (Little Miss, Little Mister, Princess & Prince) will get to return the following year and help draw the new winners. Once you have won your category, you cannot compete in it again (example: if you are 5 and win Little Miss, you cannot compete for Little Miss again. You can compete for Princess when you turn 8).

2024

Fair Queen: Kyra Wolterman 

Kyra Wolterman is the daughter of Brian and Tricia Wolterman. She is a 2024 graduate of Kuemper Catholic High School and we will be continuing her education at Bethany Lutheran College in the fall. Kyra is a member of the Carroll Area FFA and the Manning Win or Grin 4-H club. She has been active in cross-country, wrestling, soccer, and track throughout school and in her spare time enjoys running, working with animals, and spending time in her personal garden as well as making clay art. 

Runner Up: Claire Behrens

Court: Kendra Schuette, Mya Wiskus, Lauren Greving, Jayna Hoffman, Ella Heithoff, Kennedie Thomas and Gracyn Robbins.

Junior Fair Queen: Claire Venner

Claire is the daughter of Kevin and Jill Venner of Arcadia

2023

Fair Queen: Molly Freese

Molly Freese is the daughter of Justin and Janet Freese. She is a 2023 graduate of Carroll Community High School and will be continuing her education at Iowa State University where she’ll pursue a degree in agricultural communication and a minor in event management. Molly has been active in the Carroll Area FFA and the Carroll Champs 4-H club.

Fair Queen: Hannah Mescher

Hannah Mescher is the daughter of Pat and Wendy Mescher of Carroll. Hannah is a 2022 graduate from Kuemper High School.
